Default Field Testing The Little Shot

Yesterday I finally got a chance to go to the water and field test the new bait by Bob Hinkle (aka Snake River) at Lake Purdy Alabama. He calls his new bait the "Little Shot" but I have found it to be mighty big on tail action. We could not have picked a better day to test this bait under some very challenging conditions. The temperature was in the mid nineties and the wind was out of the East at about 8 miles per hour. I was using
a 7 foot Shakespeare Ugly Stick lite rod and a Shakespeare open faced spinning reel spooled with sis pound Hi Vis gold Stren line. I was long trolling in a Jon Boat in the coves of lake Purdy.

    Driving to go fishing.....
The sun was just gorgeous. It seems as if the eclipse just magnified it's color intensity. It was a blaze orange fireball as it rose this morning.

    Bait of choice and modifications.....

I chose the "Little Shot" in black body and chartreuse tail because that is what I made once the mold I ordered arrived. This lure injects very smoothly and it was no problem for a novice like me to do any two color project with it. I had field tested this lure in my aquarium at home and absolutely loved the way the action of the tail would tease and excite the fish in the aquarium. I just had to get this lure in froont of some fish at Lake Purdy.

I used my modified Colorado Blades tipped in Chartreuse powder paint

    Results and observations..................

This field test concludes with the fact that the "Little Shot" does as advertised. It will attract and lure Crappie to inspect it. Not only did the Crappie inspect it but also today it really was a big hit on the Spotted Bass at Lake Purdy. The fish caught were about 18-20 foot deep because on the heat. Long Line trolling meant there were many lures that were left in the brush piles but I landed quite a few in the mouths of the fish. Final keeper tally was 14 Spotted Bass and 12 keeper Crappie. Had a ball. Love the lure.

    Great day!
Always special when things do work out.
Was the tail vertical or horizontal?
    What speed do you troll?
