Default why didn't i do this before?!?!

firstly, let me say how much i hate c-clamps. they should all be thrown in a pile and burnt. that being said, i decided to see if i could make a air vise for my molds. i found the pneumatic vise on ebay for 10 bucks(25 to ship, yikes). i cut off the stop jaw so a block welded to the travel jaw could clear it. bolted it to the table, and then bolted a 4x6 to the table as a stop. hooked up a couple of check valves for pressure and pressure let-off. clamps 15 molds at a crack without flashing, and took me like two hours to redneck engineer. this is beyond awesome, and really saves the wear and tear on the hands. no more metal filings from the clamp threads getting wore out. no more messin around. two levers, and its pressurized or released in under a second. why didnt i think of this sooner? i guess i dont care at this point...im in heaven! it represents a pretty substantial increase in productivity, amazing how much time is frittered away just turning a c-clamp screw! brian

Great idea! Doesn't take up hardly any work space compared to having clamps and molds all over the table

thanks fellas! i would say this is one of the better $38 i've ever spent. the vise is a 4" pneumatic machinists vise, if anyone was on the prowl for one. the one i found had a damaged ratchet advance, so it sold cheaper. ive seen companies make them, but it just seemed like such a hassle as compared to this. if anyone has any questions, shoot me a pm. it is painfully simple...and i used c clamps for years, balls. brian

I like the concept. I have been using just a regular vise for three years instead of "C" clamps or fiddling with screwing molds together just because it is easier, more effective and much faster. Nice job my friend.
