So ...... I'm participating in the Dog Days of August jig swap. I'm not too familiar with crappie fishing in the fall. What are some good 2 color combinations that could be suggested?

I use the same color most of the year blues, greens, whites, pinks and always chartreuse. Jig swaps are a lot of fun just make what you like everyone will like them. I'm thinking about doing this one myself.

Thanks for the information. I've been really enjoying making these jigs. I sometimes catch myself "day dreaming" about what other color combinations and styles I can make up. We really should do a soft plastics swap soon.

I'm hosting the swap and I'm making a chrome sides, Blue back, Pearl Belly head with white and blue bucktail with silver flash on the sides. Typically, I start fishing jigging raps in mid september and my go to color is blue/chrome catch a lot of non targeted crappie.

A while back I posed a jig color summary on JC.Com and am fairly certain that although there are popular colors, there is not a clear winner of best color. Last time I was crappie fishing, the best jig hands down was a brown furr tail, orange and black varigated body with a orangish brown head with silver and black eyes. Maybe it looked like crawdad larve. Not sure but I was catching crappie after crappie to the point I stopped using that pole to concentrate on targeted fish.

Lowe175, yes, please join the swap, the more the merrier. Plenty of time on this one and I'd love to a big group but I'm probably dreaming on that one.
