That will depend on what the plastic color is going to be. Darker or less transparent colors will tolerate maybe 1/8 tsp per cup. I do four ounce batches and generally don't put enough to make a small heap on the end of a popsicle stick, maybe a twentieth of a teaspoon. In clear colors and in the transparent fluorescent colors I do I use a small bit, but it doesn't take much.

If you want to get an idea of how much a very little can affect the plastic, simple do a 4 ounce batch of clear with some silver glitter and put a BB sized wad of it stirred in before cooking. Just leave the plastic in the cup until you can handle it safely and walk it past a window without getting it in direct sunlight. Keep you eye on the plastic around the edges of the cup and the line where this thin plastic meets the main body of plastic and you'll see the bluish/purple/violet shine come on in the plastic. Keep in mind how much was added to get this effect since that's all you need in any transparent or fluorescent color. The uv enhancing powder that Do-Itmarkets is the most potent product I have used and I have several from various companies that just sit since Do-It started with their product. Great stuff.
