Bob,
Could I do a similar process like this using my metal syringe juts squeezing out one part of the mold with a color and then clamping the mold and refill the syringe with a contracting color and shoot it again?

ship have you tried the aluminum foil method?
It seems as if I do not get the mold tight enough and you get spillage around the foil where it comes out of the mold. I use a shop vise to clamp the mold. I have better luck just shooting the entire mold, then taking scissors and cutting the belly area off. After that I put the belly area back into the mold and shoot the body.
Ship....find yourself a small spoon and hand pour that top half using it. Close the mold and shoot the second color in. No sweat at all. Just get the plastic for the hand pour real hot and add stabilizer to it so burning isn't an issue. It helps to use a smaller cup too so you can heat less plastic but still get it in the spoon easily.
My goodness where did you dig up this old post this is when I was first starting out with plastics yes you could use a metal syringe ship but they are little bit too big. ctom idea with the little spoon would do you real good I still use the plastic syringes for different projects now if you wanted to make a course shot take a little bit of covering and put it up by the head put your mold back together and shoot your second, are either clear or something real light so you can see the core shot through it give it a shot and see what you think I hope I did not confuse you.
I was thinking the same thing about the post . Funny how with time something old is new again . Wish it worked on my old bones that way .
Bob, I sure hope you have tossed that plastic syringe. I have scars all over an arm from using one of those things when the heat of the plastic let the side blow out. My work area turned purple too. In a blink. Those plastic things are bad news.
