Do's and Dont...Safety and tips working with soft Plastics

this is very good information above and thought I would bring it back out in the open for everybody to read this is a very old post but very good.

This has been a very interesting read and a great help to me. I made quite a few mistakes before I read this thread. Wow! I wish I read it first.

At the request by some of the experienced plastic injectors, this sticky is to make sure that we all have the same info as to the dangers involved in working with the hi temperatures used in this. Add to it as necessary, but please, lets make it concise so that folks will read it all. Thanks, Skeet.


Default It finally happened.

Well I have been pouring jigs for about 32 years andplastics for the past year and a half. I always wear my protective equipment. Ihave never had a problem with either until the other night. Stupid me! I had mysleeves rolled up and you know what happen next. Yep the plastic squirted outof the injector and onto my forearm. I was lucky I had a sink close by. I ranmy arm under cold water immediately to put out the fire. I'm posting a pictureas a reminder to be safe. I considermyself lucky this time. On the plus side the lures did well on the yellowperch.

Thank you for making this a stickie my friend. I hope people will read the do not do stickie before they start making soft plastics.

Nasty looking burn. Reminds me of a glycol burn, a thick chemical that sticks to you.

glycol burn use vinegar to stop the burn

Been thinking about pouring my own as I can't find the colors I want in the store. Thanks for this post, some very good information.
