What about a sticky on where to buy the supply's to get started or links to the different suppliers. This is all new to me so I am interested to know how to get started off right.

    Default two color jigs

I hope this does not sound like a crazy question but on injection molds or two piece molds, how can you do half the jig one color and half the other color? How do you know when you have it half way if you cannot see it?

GCD, that is so cool. Now my other crazy question is how does it work that way? I would think it would all mix together instead of going into the core or center of the worm. A man could spend lots of money playing with this stuff

core shots are possible because when the first color is poured in it starts to cool, then the very hot core shot is introduced and it travels down the center. Its only possible to do 1 at a time. multi cavity molds will give you a different effect but not really a desirable one

crappieday, I found a how to on soft plastic mols out of DAP. It says to use sealer-any plaster/wall board, water soluble sealer such as valspar gloss glaze. I went to Lowes and they looked around but could not find any that said valspar gloss glaze. Where can I find this to seal my molds? Or is there another sealer I can get at a local store that will do the job?

go get you some good old elmers white glue. Mix with a little water to thin it out then brush it on to the mold and let dry. it takes 3 applications of it.

Making your own molds might be ok if you have the time to futz with it, but I just don't think you'll get the quality of a 2 piece aluminum mold from a DYI mold.

I'm thinking about getting a multi cavity 5" Kalins grub mold.. so I can catch that 7 lb. Crappie I've always wanted!!! :p

The 2 piece alum. molds are pricey... but exact!.. I hate for anything I do to look half-assed!

I'm just afeared of one thing, between pouring and painting my own jig heads, and pouring my own plastics... I'm afeared I'll be chained to the work bench like CD and won't have time to fish for those finicky, insolent, sneaky little minner suckers we call CALICO BASS!!! :D

GCD, I would love to have a two piece aluminum mold but have not been able to find one like I want. I want to make my own shapes like the bobby garlands and like the panfish assassins, I can find the curly tail grub molds and such, but not the ones I want so I thought I would experiment with making some. I know they wont be great, but sometimes they dont have to be, as long as they are close I believe they will catch fish at times.
