Canon is my choice for digital photography. I've bought 2 used later models on Ebay 5 yrs. ago and they've worked great. Early this year I bought to older used cameras - A85 model and the computer wouldn't recognize it in order to allow photos to be transferred.
I did research and found out that an EOS program for each camera model must be on the pc for a transfer to happen and unfortunately Canon doesn't support older models. They have a hundred or more model/ EOS's on their website but no A85.
So, I figured I'd take out the CF (Compact Flash) memory card and stick it into a card reader. Not happening - the slot was to small for the older wider Compact Flash cards.
So, within 24 hrs. I got a card reader from Amazon for $10, stuck the card in it and plugged it into the USB slot. Problem solved. WhooHoo! I hate buying stuff I can't use and as much as it's a pain in the a. to transfer photos, at least I got two backup cameras that take good pictures.
