I know what you mean. Used to be a lot of birds around here. Chucker, Hun's, Pheasant and Valley Quail but haven't seen hardly any wild bird's in several years now. Last two year's only found two covey's of Valley Quail.

Beautiful dogs! I've always had Labs my last one passed away a over a year ago and now thinking of getting another dog but thinking of a German Short hair. Has anybody had and trained one? I plan on possibly retiring this year and so I'll have the time to train him or her. I really want to go pheasant hunting South Dakota, North Dakota or where ever it's on my bucket list. That just looks like a whole lot of fun.

Hard to go wrong with a GSP. Easy training and very forgiving of mistakes you might make. I've had number of them and everyone natural retriever. All were very good in the water.
Thanks Eatmorecrappie thanked you for this post

At this time of year I am out quail hunting at least 3 times a week. Not a lot of birds here this year. But, there are always a few gambels to pursue.
    Here is my new project.
