Default School me please. Wade fishing.

Never waded for crappie before. Just now reading about it here. I am in Missouri. How do you do it? 10 ft pole with jig. Do you just hold the jog still? Slowly move it around trees and stumps?

Would wading for crappie in Missouri be the same way when they start to spawn shallow. ? Thanks for the info.

There are a couple of video's on youtube of folks wading in Mississippi and its pretty much how we do it. 9'-10' jig pole and get back in the trees with them when they run up to spawn. Its some kind of fun for sure! You have to try a little bit of everything to see what the fish want. Some days they want it just as still as you can hold a jig and others they want it moving. Im not sure how they spawn in missouri but if they run up in 1'-3' of water you could do it.

it is kind of fun . you will need to learn how to land them on a long pole . it aint easy in tight quarters to handle a big fat mad spring crappie on a short line and long rod .
I under arm the pole and drag them right to me and use a trout landing net that's over my shoulder to get a chance to hold said fishes .
careful when moving in the sticks as underwater limbs create quite the tripping hazard and once you tump over its about impossible to get back up with water to the top of a pair of chest waders .
whatever the water depth is on average I set my line about that depth and just doodle the jig slowly back and forth and sometimes in figure eights or circles in the openings that look fishee .
one thing for certain you often get back in spots some folks cant reach and ketch some real big ole crappie .
luck to ya and be safe
