Don't know about the Southern Crappie rods, but the BnM PST's are slightly stiffer than the BnM Capps/Coleman rods. And I know that for a fact, as I have a PST & two C/C rods that I push jigs with ... and with 1/2oz weight the C/C rods have just a slightly longer tip curve than the PST's. It's a little more obvious with 3/4oz weight.

There's a picture of a Southern Crappie rod bent with 1/2oz weight on their website, but it's hard to determine how much bend it has from the picture, so it would be hard to place it in line with the other two I mentioned. Then there's the new 14' "trolling" rod by Southern Crappie, which would have to be stiffer since it's designed to use up to 2oz weights.

Was looking for a rod for pretty big river current. The new SCR looks good, but it may be overkill in normal water with jigs, being an extra heavy. Im running 1.5 oz on PST's and don't get a lot of droop, but I need more weight on the river. Maybe they can take another .5 oz or so? I wonder if the SCR rod is as sensitive as the PST's?

I run the scr143T the ones rated for 2oz. They are stiffer but still have a very sensitive tip. I usually run 3/4 oz weights for spider rigging and they to great!

Do you have any experience with the Pro staffs as far as comparison?

I've used PST rods exclusively for the last year or so. Great all around rod but recently bought a set of 14' Southerns, regular not T's. Reason being I was missing alot of light bites with my PST's when rigging. The Southerns have more sensitive tips with enough back bone. I will pull and push cranks with my pst rods as well as power troll, but use the Southerns for spider rigging from now on. Got a hot tip from a very reputable source this weekend, he says the best poles on the market are the Denalis and he has fished with every rod known to crappie fishing, I'm sure of it. Food for thought.. anyway.

Yes sir I have a couple of pst's as well they are built a lot a like but I have not broke a scr yet I have broke pst's and the price is a lot more attractive on the scr and mr. Ed Duke is a great person to deal with! I have not had to contact him since my purchase was made but everyone says his customer support is second to none!
