Default How many bamboo in 1 stake bed

Using the search function now Ive read several threads but can’t find my answer.

How many bamboo sticks do you use when you build a stake bed? I cut 50 10fters this weekend. How many do I need to use on 1 bed?

I don’t think there is a certain number. Just make structures you can fish easily.

I agree with SD. I don't believe there is a set rule.

Here's one way I build a condo. Drive 2 stakes in an X pattern and tie the intersection about 4 ft off the ground. Lay tops from the ground into the X, some small ends up and some down. Tie the tops to the X. Drive stakes along the tops from bottom to top in an X pattern to hold the tops in place. Drive a lot of stakes 4 inches to a foot apart around the condo. The last 2 I built had 4 main condos and lots of stakes in a 15X50 ft area about 75 ft apart.

We used to put several depending on size in a bucket . Angle them out and fill bucket with rock and concrete . Just let it set up before moving to the water . I put about 3 or 4 to a spot . Just don't make too heavy to move .

They should look kinda like an open flower or an upside down umbrella. A cinder block will hold 8 or 10 smaller ones and then fill the void with dry concrete and then water it well .

I used to put about 12 to a 5 gallon bucket. Put a few just a little shorter straight up in the middle so the top of the bed will be relatively flat. Hardest part is getting the bucket to stay standing until concrete sets up.
I don't know if it's still here but Jerry Blake, a great guy that used to guide on Greeson, had an outstanding article posted on CDC with step by step pics how to build them.

I don't think there is any set rule on what makes a proper structure. Just get creative and go with it. Whether it be bamboo, cane, or pvc, if you build it, they will comeHow many bamboo in 1 stake bed. Here's a couple I have builtName: Resized_20221130_164124.jpg
