Default How Much Ready-Mix To Use

How much quick-create do you all use when making up a 5 gallon bucket with the usual sticks, steaks and pvc pipe?

It really depends on what you are trying to sink. It does not take much to sink open PVC pipe but will take a lots for sinking a bamboo condo. Some woods are heavy and will take less weight than other type woods that are less dense that will take more weight. I learned my lessen years ago when I tried to sink a bamboo condo with a half bucket of Quick rete. It floated and I had to pick it up and take it back home and fill it full then bring it back the next day to sink it. Better to have to much weight than too little is now my thinking.

Don't know anything about bamboo but have done hundreds with regular hardwood stakes, pallet boards, and pipe scraps in buckets, shrub pots, and dish pans. Always used around 40lbs of quik Crete per bucket etc or roughly half of the 80lb bags I bought. They always went to the bottom and stayed.

I cut 5 gallon buckets in half to build stake beds with 4' or so wood 1'' x 2'' stakes . Make about 3 per 80 lb sack of quickcrete . I use average of 10 stakes per bucket . You can change stake height for shallower or deeper water . Top half of buckets helps to use lids to protect boat . Easy to deploy , toss out and they land upright . I don't even mix quickcrete . Fill buckets with dry quickcrete , add water , then stakes . Trial and error will show you amount of water needed .
