    Default Plastic 55 gallon drums

I have three of them to put in lake. Looking for ideas on how to "modify" them. Cut holes, add pipe for limbs, strap them together ? ? ?

Better make sure the barrel or drums will be legal to use. Just don't want you or any of the other CDC members to get in any trouble. But if it is legal I would drill holes and insert as many PVC pipes that I could. Then sink it with either cement or cement blocks(held in place inside with the PVC pipes) for a lifetime fishing habitat.
Be safe and good luck fishing

On the lakes this time of year you'll see a few barrels used for hand grabbing.

If it has a removable lid place 2 cement blocks in the bottom, put holes in the sides and jam some mulberry or locust, or Osage orange limb butts thru them. Cut several other 3-4" holes in the sides and bottom Drill tightly fitted holes in the lid and put PVC pipes with stainless steel screws under the bottom of the lid to hold then in. Add water and enjoy !

Barrels have bungs, drums have removable lids.
We buy drums for burn barrels. That makes a lot of sense.

They have bungs in the top. I have saws, no problems getting a hole in the top to drop "weight" in. And hole saws to put holes in the sides.
I rinse them out good, and have permission to drop them in the lake.
I've recently acquired a bunch of 5 gallon buckets. Creative ideas for them???
    Thanks for the info.

There are a lot of threads here with buckets. Mostly fill with limbs or boards then concrete. Let them cure a few days before dropping in the lake.
If you want to use the buckets as a form split them down 2 sides, not the bottom and tape them for a casting.

I have access to the 55 gallon plastic barrels. They have two bungs in top, no removable lid.
    ive tried several designs.
Whole barrel, with 4"diameter holes, then stick through 6' sections of black plastic drainage pipe. (Type used by landscapers, and for gutter drains) 80 pound bag of quick rete, plus another 20 pounds of gravel for weight.
Easy to make, lots of mass, $20 cost. Difficult to handle and deploy, and even with 100 pounds, current moves them, they would never stop moving, in 12' of water.
i tried similar design, but cut barrel in 1/2, still had movement issue.
i now use 5 gallon bucket, old pvc when I can dumpster dive and find it, plus 1/2" irrigation tubing, cut in 8' lengths. Concrete for weight. They stay put better, but still are moved slightly by wind / current.
