Default New-PVC-get a condo on your block today

Made a PVC condo on a heavy concrete block today. 3-pictures:

    1) Block w/short stub of PVC into concrete placed in block with green PVC ball for other PVC lentgths

    2) Pieces of PVC cemented in green PVC ball. Left the center vertical piece out just to show the length of rebar that is cemented inside the block and short vertical PVC using hydraulic cement. This was kind of an afterthought after I saw how flexible the short stub of PVC was adjacent to the stiffness of the concrete. I was afraid that it could somehow get sheared off and the whole thing would go. Now, if the PVC should break off, the rebar will keep things in place!:D

    3) The finished condo with final vertical piece cemented into the green PVC ball

Have not placed it yet but will rig something up to just lower it close to our dock.
    Any comments?

I know they are available at Gander Mountain, probably other places as well.

    Default PVC Ball

The Pvc balls are called Bill Dance's Porcupine Fish Attractor and are available in several sizes at www.porcupinefishattractor.com. You can purchase the complete attractors or just the balls.

Yes, a lot of the larger bait shops around here and probably a lot of places have them. Too expensive for me as a package and I would rather just use the ball and modify them. One can tie a weight to the ball and anchor it with a concrete block or something else. Or you could hang it fron a dock, but movement may make the fish ancy.

looks like a drill press, a block of wood and the right size bit would make the central part in no time.

those sphere's are $15 each with shipping. They look cool and all but I'm not about to start building condos and tossing them into the water if they're $15 EACH!!

Default yeh 15 bucks a pop!

They are expensive, come in kits with the straight PVC pieces. Bought the ball only! Only place I would use it is by our dock, can fish it everyday if you want, attracts baitfish already as it has algae on it already.(The water is still down about 3 1/2 feet, so can see part of it)
Could use a chunk of 6" steel, have it machined down round and holes bored, would not have to use concrete since it would be plenty heavy to sink itself, may cost a chunk of moneytho'! :D
