Pack your pvc/plastic denser...add limbs...give the fish a safe place to hide. Put laydowns, boo, softer fruit wood, cedar, etc., close to your larger crappie cover to draw micro organisms, minnows, insects, craws, etc....this will keep Crappie in the Cover esspecially if you have picked a good location. I make areas with 10 to 20 pieces packed close, with laydowns etc., close by. Milk crates with 10 hole bricks in the bottom (small craw favorite) and wood pieces bundled in the other crates (3 to 4 high), make a great stump....10 of these in an area are great also.

Sorry to resurrect this thread....after reading and researching many threads, this was extremely informative as I don't have access to things like bamboo/willows. Quick question....when you say laydowns, what do you mean by that? Are you talking like a stake pallet?? I made 8 PVC buckets (dense buckets), with a milk crate filled with 8 hole bricks and wood....as well as 3 dedicated buckets with thick PVC pipe....6-8"...similar to your sixth photo.

Thinking of adding another milk crate stack but at 12 standing structures I feel that it seems to be enough. I should've took photos and am kicking myself for not, but figured this was a good start. I placed the group about 10 yards from a main channel drop off.

Again, natural AND PVC together tend to out produce everything else if properly placed...
