I went out there this winter on my Rhino to check it out and it was two trees laying down in a row.

I learned my lesson about taking others to my spots. I took a good friend with me to a pond that only I fished and told him never come out without me. The next day I went out and him on three others were there and had about 20 bass and about 100 bluegill in the truck. I told them to put them back in dead or alive and never come around there or me again. I lost a good friend over being too trusting. Fishermen will go where the fish are.

I just hate the ambushers that will see you on a spot and move in within 10 feet of your spot and cast in while you are there. I will start up the big motor, blast the spot, and move somewhere else.

I respect others when they are on the spot but I might be there when they leave. As far as someone leaving a marker on my beds I just move it about 50 feet.

One of my favorite things to do is put out a maker in a dead area and watch all the people try it for half hour.:D
Yeah, I spect if the guy had jumped into my boat, then Mr.Atlantic would have been at the bottom of the Atlantic and I would have a nice new secret spot out there. I have a rule for anyone I take out there with me on a brushpile I put in. They can carry anyone out there on it as long as they don't have their own means to fish. if I catch them putting someone else on it that I know will fish it to death then thats it. I won't get ugly, I will just not invite them to another pile I have placed for I have lost my trust in them. I get someone new to promise me if I know they have means to fish on their own. If they don't have means then no Biggy. If some stranger pulls up and starts fishing it before I get there, then he has found it on his own and as far as that goes, He has earned the right to fish it. I try to place mine in a hard to find spot. A good spot will not stay secret for long so I try to keep it secret for as long as possible until I know it has become Public knowledge then I will show someone that spot anytime. Yes, Whatever I put into the water becomes public property but that does not mean it has to become public knowledge. Mine usually get found during the winter while there is a lot of spider rigging going on. I get about one year on a spot and then its pretty much public knowledge but thats O.K.. I find other spots that way my self and try to keep the spot hush hush until I have seen several different people on it. I try to respect the person who put out the spot and keep it quiet. I hope he does mine the same. CF

Hell, fish your spots? Guys, leave your livewell door open and I'll fish in it.

Ha! I don't give a rats rear as to who fishes the structure I place. They can fish it out and two hours later, it'll 'bout be fully stocked back up. I do frown on relocating someones hard work though. All eight of the bamboo condos I built last year were found when the lake went way down. They have all been moved. Guess that 17' tall boo twas a tad too tall. I don't have a problem sharing the spots I find either. I don't wanna get stingy till I at least start getting senile.

Thats the reason I go fishing in the first place...to get away from all the fussing and carrying ons of everyday life..sure is a shame that somebody has to bring all that out there on the water with him...I'd hate to make him mad during rush hour!!

Around here it's pretty simple. There are those that sink and those that don't. If I fish with someone that don't, I don't show them the ones I put out or that anyone else has put out. Those of us that do, share these spots with each other. If someone finds one of the ones we sank and fishes it, we just go to the next one. No hassle, but we don't tell the lazys the easy spots. If I find some tops on my own, I usually will end up either meeting or finding out who sank it. I inturn will either freshen it up for them or I will tell them where I've sank a good one that they can catch fish on. We don't own any of them. Pretty good system down here. Very seldom hear of anyone haveing any trouble.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but I don't understand why this would bother anyone. You know that the lakes are public. As such, any structure that you put out becomes public property. I do understand your frustrations in that others are benefitting from your hard work, but the overall goal should be to improve the habitat so the overall fishery improves. I've had similar issues with food plots for deer, in having the one that I was hunting and put the most time and effort in get taken by someone on the neighboring farm that did nothing. Overall the complete herd benefitted though, so it is not all bad.
