Great idea to make transportation easy, I just wonder how long a nail will last.
Maybe a stainless steel cotter pin would last longer. Just a thought.

I've had some of these out for 7+ years and they are just like the day I put them out. A stainless pin is a great idea.

I hope you don't mind me adding this to your thread. This is what I do, you can use just about any PVC material. They do hold fish but wood is a lot better as you know. Long lining over them is great.

I get most of my material from the recycle center where I work at. Sand filters for pools work real good.

BigDawgg...There is absolutely nothing wrong with PVC. Heck, we used it in GA, SC, and Ohio, and if you sand it with 60 grit etc., so algae can get a grip, it will be just fine.
Some fishermen just can come to grip with the fact that it will hold just as many fish if done correctly. It is soooo much easier to work with and fish, it LASTS FOREVER, plus you can "hide it" when needed.
Your stuff is exactly how dense regular PVC should be...the other option is to use Large diameter PVC as big limbs or stumps.

If people have issues with PVC, then all they have to do is just supplement it with some wood to make themselves happy.
We have done PVC and other Plastics, all in different types of water and it is just fine....if that's all anyone wants to do, it will work out great, as long as the location is good!
If you are trying to "Hide" the PVC and afraid of wood showing, you can do LIMBS PACKED TIGHT IN MILKCRATES, tight brush block laydowns, or lay down limbs, around the pvc in drop-offs, ledges, rocky areas etc.
It really helps if you know and understand the areas you are trying to cover....we go out and graph the area and take pictures with Top of the line Electronics...then we have an idea of how we can hide the cover so it will benefit the lake and not just be a honey hole for fishermen.
Our lakes are small and highly pressured in Ohio, so to improve the quality, you have to hide cover from idiots who would sit on it 24/7 until it was stripped!
The BIGGEST Benefit of Wood is that it Dissolves, either fast or slow,....it makes food for the entire food and forage chain...that's it! PVC with a base of Milk Crates (That will look like a ROCK on electronics) is the perfect answer!

The spiderman - I like the idea of assembly on the water. I made the mistake of taking out some attractors on a sunny day (usually only on rainy days) had a boat follow me. Left that spot for 3 minutes, came back, and they where sitting on it.

those are real nice!! I have gotten away from plastics for no reason. I have a buddy that has a one man sawmill and he gives me tons of slab cut offs and I really like the wood better. I think I might do a few of
    These.
