    Default Boo Balls

We are making severa lof these Boo Balls to sink. The PIC is not me, but the guy who gave me the idea. The Boo Balls work out great. At the moment we are making some 3' balls to sink in 5'-6' of water. We made some 6' Boo Balls last year and put them in 25' of water, suspended at about 12'-18' of water. Had great luck during late July/August and Decemeber/Januaury. We left the limbs on the stalk, and only had to use 3 stacks. The pattern we used had 6-7 stalks.

We can make a Boo Ball in just a few minutes, made 12 in an hour on Sturday. So we have 12 ready to sink. All of these are smaller Balls to go in shallow water. We are hoping to create several Spawn Staging areas in about 4'-6' foot of water. We're trying to get away from Stake Beds, and the time it takes to build them. We can build these at home, and just toss them out like any other structure. So hoping for good things this Spring.

We tie them together with Electric Fence wire, then spray that Foam stuff that they use to fill cracks to sturdy them up. Use just enough foam to sturdy them. Once it hardens, it keeps all the arms in one place.

Do you sink them as is, or are you weighting them down with something?

You will need to weight them down. Boo is very Buoyant, the with the foam in the middle, they require weight to hold them down.

When putting on foam, you will need to foam the top half, give it time to harden, which I let set overnight. Then turn the Boo Ball over, and foam the bottom half. If you try to do it all at once, the foam (Gravity) will drop off the bottom.

Is expanding foam sealer environmentally friendly? Seem like that stuff would have a lot of chemicals in it. I like your idea sounds cheap and easy to make which is 2 critical points in my book. If anyone knows about foam being e-friendly put it out there. GOOD FISHING!

I also wonder if the foam is bad to drop in water?...
