    Default location for bamboo condo's

I know this has been covered but I don't find the general topic on it. I did a search for "condo location". Anyway, I just have 3 12' ones and am trying to figure out the best places to put them. Generally where we've caught Crappie in the past has been by stickups. But will it help those older structures to have a fresher one with leaves or should I pick a spot where there's a drop off and not much structure nearby? Inside a cove or just outside of it closer to the channel? Thanks

Would depend on depth of older cover; if it`s a producer would be tempted to "reenforce" or "freshen it up".

If your familiar with the lake, pick a place where you typically find fish which is usually like someone on here said before near or on Drop offs, drop offs, drop offs...........Try putting your structure on a flat that is 12 to 15 fow with a nice deep river or creek channel near by. I try and think of the lake in the following way. The river channel is as a highway, the creek channels are as state roads, and the wash ins and ditches are as country roads. Lots of fish traffic use the major roads and condos you build as rest stops/restraurants or convenience stores. The fish will stop by and pick up a wink of sleep, or a candy minnow sometimes even when they aint that hungry just to see who else is staying at the bambo in.lol One mistake you dont want to make or be lured into is if you put out cover, dont get sucked into fishing only your condos and forget there is this whole other lake out there to fish. It's a real hard habbit to break fishing only your condos. Good luck.

Thanks. I'll keep those in mind. Crappie catching has been slow in all locations so no real producers.

I can't quite figure this out. I've got a spot that's real handy to get to , where some Crappie have been caught. My condo's are 12-14 feet tall and the waters depth is 18 feet. The lake might even drop another foot. Is it crazy to put one of these there or should I just build another out of cement blocks with the bamboo going horizontal? Thanks

Won`t say won`t work horizontally, but am sure crappie "tend" to prefere vertical structure.

    horizontal bamboo condos:
Use a bucket lid with lots of holes drilled in it. Place boo in every hole as far up the stalk as you want. May use more than 1 stalk per hole. Tie an anchor to the lid with a few feet of cord. Tie an anchor to the stalk ends.

If you have a flat that is 8 ft deep then drops to a 14 ft ditch would you put the bamboo buckets on the flat or in the ditch?
