Default Cajun Fryer, First Time Fire UP???

So, just got my 4 gal Cajun Fryer. What did you guys do for the first fire up?? Do I need to burn off any oil residue? And if so, dry burn or with oil, or water?

    Whatcha think???

I can't help with the question but sounds like a heck of a cooker. Congrats

I would check the instructions thoroughly but for sure I would was with hot water and dish soap.

i got this straight from the users manual.

    1. Wash fryer with dishwashing detergent and warm water prior to use. The inside of the unit has been sprayed with cooking oil to prevent rust.

I always understood, Never fire up a fryer without oil in it.

That’s all I did when I got mine 10 years ago. Keep your oil jugs to strain oil every 5-7 cooks. I’ve gotten over 30 cooks in one batch of oil.

We have had ours about 5 years, i filter and drain the oil after each cooking. Will wash the cooker after 5 or 6 cooking, spray it with non stick oil and cover it. We also have used oil 30 times or better, oil will turn dark but will not taste burned. Great cooker

Well I used it today for my first fish cooking. Excellent!! Got the oil a little too hot to begin with. I was using Riceland rice bran oil, which has a high flashpoint than other oil. Not sure if it was the oil or the little bit of extra heat
but it was the best fish-hushpuppies-and fries I've ever cooked. Very light and crispy, just the way I like it. And no heavy, bad feeling after eating. And I might of ate just a little bit too much.....

A good hot cooker does a great job. High temp oils help as well
