    Default Mustard Pickles recipe

Hello all. My 78 year old father was telling me about his days of youth and remembered his mama always having a crock of mustard pickles. He said she would pick the small cucumbers from the garden and pitch them in the crock and stir to make sure they went under the previous day's cukes......so they must not have been cooked. He may not have known this for sure, though. It's just what he said about what she did.

He grew up in south Arkansas, so I don't know if this is a southern thing or not. I would like to make some with some store-bought cucumbers as a test run, then if they go over well I can make them big time this summer. He did say that they weren't especially in a yellow mustard brine.

Anyone got a recipe for mustard pickles? Thanks in advance.......I'll bet someone comes through for me. GTT

I’ve heard of mustard pickles but have never tried them. I did find a video of how to make them.

Mustard pickles are worth the effort!
See if I can locate the recipe.
I’m sure you know, there are 2 different cucumbers, pickling and slicing.
Use the pickling if you can.

Well, I made em. Bought the glass crock at WalMart, along with the small pickling cukes, apple cider vinegar, and Colman's English Dry Mustard. We'll find out in a week or so.........

OK guys & gals, I'm here to report that these pickles are very good and super easy to do. We're already in the crock and it's only been one week. The guy in the video said they're best after two weeks, and I'm sure they are, but none of ours may make it that far.

if you're looking for an easy way to do a batch of no cook pickles, I must say that this seems to be it. Thanks again to Smitty for finding the recipe video and posting it for us to see. GTT

The guy in the video had a BIG crock. That glass one I bought at WalMart isn't nearly as big so I had to divide his recipe by four. The recipe I cut mine down to is:
2 bags small pickling cucumbers *WalMart had several bags*
    2 cups water
    2 cups apple cider vinegar
    1/4 cup sugar
1/8 cup Colman's Dry Mustard........I used 1/2 of my 1/4 cup measuring cup
3/16 cup salt.......I used 3/4 of my 1/4 cup measuring cup

    They're good & easy.
