    Default Before and after.

I’ll have to learn how to fillet fish without wasting meat. Today fillet another 12” crappie after soak in ice cold water in fridge over night. I felt I waste a lot of meat especially around belly portion.
My recipe is easy no flour just plain fry in butter and lemon pepper seasoning on top.

Practice will help; I made a mess out of my first 15-20 as well so don't beat yourself up over it. Lots of video's on youtube on how to do it but I think this is one of the most straight forward and clearly filmed. I use this technique on all panfish, not just crappie.

And by the way, that looks like a good eatin' plate! And ragged fillets taste just as good as the picture perfect ones......
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Ice water is good but packed in ice in a chest is better.

How about just ice on top of fish in the fridge?
