Many, many fish have been scaled with tablespoons, butter knifes, scalers, and even bottle caps screwed to a piece of wood or dowel. Just like the different makes and models of vehicles and boats. You have to discover what works best for you. Fortunately it’s not as expensive to dial in the the scaling utensil that fits you best. Many people feel the skin adds a lot of flavor to their catch. Good luck on your quest.

I don't understand why the skin is difficult to filet off? My electric knife slides it off like butter.

take 1 of the beaters from your hand held mixer and put it in your cordless drill. That makes the scales fly off the fish quick and easy.

I use a garden hose with a high pressure end on it. Hold the fish in your hand and blow the scales off. The water direction should be from tail of fish toward the head.
