Default Bizarre Foods Crappie Recipe - looking for more info

Just caught episode he was out with a Crappie fisherman and he mentioned a recipe where you use

    he called it Civeche

    onions
    Jalapeno
    Lemon Juice
    Salt / pepper
    Crappie

looks like he had it in a plastic coffee container - I assume you let it sit in fridge a few days

has anyone tried this or have the actual recipe - it sounds pretty good

The lemon juice cooks it. I’m not sure how much or how long. But you could try searching cooking fish with lemon juice. I saw this on a fishing show a few years back as well. Looks very interesting.

I guess they are pickling it in a way? Doesn't sound to appealing to me.

Go find any authentic mexican restaurant... they'll serve it. Try it there before you waist your time (in my opinion.)

The citric acid theoretically "cooks" the fish. You may love it, but it's definitely not for me...

    Good luck.

Too many parasites for me to even think of eating fish that have not been cooked with heat .

like said, its really for saltwater fish. i have heard you can do it with fresh water fish safely, if you freeze them first. supposed to kill the parasites i guess. if it doesnt, just think of it as a diet. when you loose all the weight you need to, go to the doctor and get rid of the parasites. lol
