Have confidence in what you are doing. Enjoy your time on the water. Be prepared to share the water with others and respect their need to enjoy one of the joys God has given us.
go early /stay late !
Just go out and fish. watch others that are catching fish and duplicate what they are doing.
Tolling jigs, minnows or cranks covers more water with more baits therefore increasing your chances of putting your offering in front of hunger fish.
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
The best advice I could give anyone starting to crappie fish is to fill your circle of friends with other crappie fishermen. Fishing with other experienced crappie anglers will take years off of the learning curve compared to going it alone. Where does one meet knowledgeable anglers you might ask. Web sites, Fishing forums, Tackle shops, crappie events are all great places. Join and support your local crappie club. Clubs usually have the greatest and most dedicated crappie fishermen in the entire area.
All of these sources can be a wealth of information to you. Be prepared to learn in weeks what would take many years through trial and error on your own.

Never hurts to throw a few back for the future. I remember the ones I have released more than the ones I have harvested for the table. Share the trip with a loved one or friend. Never be too busy to enjoy the portrait that nature paints
