My rule of thumb is not to fish in July or August.....it just gets "too hot for me to handle".....but with the really good reports from Henderson, I just had to go for it this morning......went by myself.....launched at 6 AM.....it was easy to figure out where to go.....just follow all the other boats trails that they leave on the water....so, I wound up on the North end of Bigeaux and there were the boats, about 10 of them.....I stopped short of them and started fishing with an eye toward them to see what they were catching......started with a beetle spin and couldn't get a bite.....switched to shiner and caught a gar.....I didn't see anyone boating a fish but one guy said he got 3 early then nothing....so, after about 45 min. I crossed the lake to the other side where no one was.....started fishing 2 ft. deep in 13 FOW around patches of floating water hyancinth with shiners and started catching.....lots of bait fish around and fish busting them.....it was not fast but it was steady till I ran out of shiners around 10.....kept 20 sacs.....threw back about 4 small sacs.....big fish was almost 14"......did catch one on a beetle spin.....left them biting.....ran into one of our CDC guys "Rick1967" at the landing....he was launching as I was leaving.....thanks for coming over to say hello Rick.....
we eat good tonight.....we are Blessed....
