    We Were ShinDiggin the Shindig….

My bride and I took off Weds morning for the KY Lake Shindig and pulled in to Lynnhurst Resort around 6 PM. We were greeted by the office crew and made feel welcome right off the bat. After getting our key we made our way to Cabin 4 to find very cozy, immaculately clean accommodations with everything needed for our stay. Lynnhurst Family Resort – Cast Your Cares Away

We made our way to the store in Murray KY which was an 18 minute drive to pick up things my wife needed to bake cookies for Billbob and foods for the Shindig cookout. Murray is a nice lil college town with plenty of restaurants, gas stations etc where I imagine you can get most anything you need.

Thursday morning Captain Doug and I went out pulling cranks on Kentucky Lake and scratched out 7 or so nice keeper Crappie which found their way to a freezer bag for later consumption. After fishing we went down to visit Billbob and inspector Mike who had rolled in that afternoon. My wife had made chili for all of us and we sat around telling stories and filling our bellies. Billbob got his special pan of Chocolate Chips which brought out that big Ted Smile.

Friday morning we met and had the free continental breakfast at The Dutch Kitchen. The spread included biscuits, gravy, sausage links, scrambled eggs, fruit, cereal, milk, waffles, toast and delicious muffins. We loaded up and fished together for about 6 hours pulling and pushing cranks. We ended up with 8 or so keeper Crappie, some White Bass, and one each channel and blue cat for our efforts. Ted and Mrs Buckeye are fish catching machines and schooled us all. Great day on the water.

Saturday found Captain Doug, Ted and I pulling again and man the Mayor had the Midas touch again boating 9 keepers to my one. After 4 hours we wrapped it up after that and headed to Aurora Park for the cookout. Lots of good food and fellowship was shared. Rickie had some items from Podunk there and was more than willing to share his electronics knowledge. Thanks to Doug for grilling on the Blackstone and Jerry for the skillet taters and awesome cobblers cooked all cooked in cast iron. The owners of Lynnhurst brought their hit and miss ice cream maker and cranked out a few gallons of delicious vanilla ice cream to go with the warm cobbler. It was so good I had to get seconds with another helping of blackberry cobbler.

It is my understanding that the event next year will be at the same resort. Thanks to everyone who contributed, attended and made the 2022 event a great one. Let’s work to make next years event bigger. For y’all who couldn’t make it this year make plans for next October (2023) to come on down for some awesome fishing, fellowship and food at the 2023 Kentucky Lake Shindig. P.S. bring stretchy pants!
