This Spring has been busy for me with ranch work and a bad run of luck with stuff breaking and no crappie fishing. Some friends from Colorado were coming over and wanted to fish so I got the boat ready and watched the weather for a better day. It's been a cool Spring which has been nice but quite a bit of wind also. I didn't know what to expect as water temp was 52 and I had not heard any reports. The day turned out better than expected with some sun and the wind stayed down until late afternoon. We caught a few dark males off the first shoreline we hit and some bass. Found an offshore school I anchored on and worked them over until they moved on. Tried one more steep shoreline as the wind came up. By running upwind and doing a controlled drift we were able to finish out the day on a good note. Great first trip. The only negative was when I gassed up the boat at the end of the day. $42 for 8 gallons.
