• Double-dippin' is sometimes

frowned upon, but when it comes to fun-harvesting on the water, I'm ALL IN! Saltwater Tuesday programming had both fishing & crabbing on my technique du jour/modus operandi. Working my way West from launch, I'd set a trap/fish until all 5 pots were deployed...kinda like sending your spouse off to work while you kick back to watch tv and enjoy crab dip/chips! Conditions were favorable overall, but the weather conditions had plans of changing in early afternoon. Disappointingly-sized playmates found their return home permission slip. I tried some fresh crappie carcasses in one of the pots as an experiment of comparison(always have liked Upexperimentation) I finally decided after a couple hours had elapsed to head about 2 miles offshore to try 5 - 6 fow for the trout that haven't made their inshore migration when w't's start to drop(soon). I was using Gulp shrimp and was getting the $1 baits decimated by Pufferfish! Although I whole-heartedly enjoy(CRAVE) their deliciously fine white meat(aka blowfish, blow toads, sugar toads, sea squab, chicken-of the-sea, SOB's, and especially in my case = MORE), I was only able to bring 2 to net. Disregard, in my opinion, the poisonous warnings, because since the early '60 s in Maryland(multi-bucketfuls), I have caught/cleaned/eaten 1000's of 'em(YT has many technique videos). A little tricky to first learn to clean, but you'll have to trust me on that one. They actually shoreline, sight-fish for 'em on Florida's East Coast(probably West too...and they keep ALL regardless of size due to tablefare worthiness) Back in the old days in Maryland, we used bloodworms, but bits of raw shrimp, squid, clams etc. work well too. We used a double high/low rig with snelled, beaded-spinner #6 bait-holder hooks often times catching two at a time.. As the clouds were building in the NE distance, even with a co-operative trout bite, I decided to head in with only 80% of my trout quota(4 >19"). Still needing to pull my pots as I headed Easterly, I would sneak in a cast or two, while the ominous BLACK skies were approaching. My 1st pot-pull was my experimental, "anxious" Crappie-carcass bait = ZILCH! Oh well = Scratch-off! Did pick up a surprise, undersize trout way inshore but was T totally thrilled with my other 4 pots =$$$(42 mostly Large/Jumbo bad boys!) Got the rig back on trailer about 10 minutes before Mother Nature had her way with things. Thanks for ridin', readin' bout my REEL fun times! Enjoy the pics-
