• Sight for sore eyes…

The last couple of days in southern Nevada, powerful, though short storm had caused havocs for road workers and clean up crew due to flash flood clogging up drainage and dispersing desert scapes all over the roads. This evening I saw a small window of opportunity to sneak out and visit one of my least favorite local ponds…..and it’s not the fish, that is unless you are like me who now more interested in UL and panfish than the big catfish, LM bass, and carps. I’m not complaining in fact I should be thankful that in there a healthy bluegill population, it’s just that common carp population is even healthier, so targeting bluegill only requires more effort than I like, lol. It’s unnerving when hundreds of carps feeding and all I saw was a few hints of green dotting and zigzagging beneath the surface. Today I think I may have found a solution: drop-shotting flies very close to the surface, since carps mostly feed on or near floor. Where are those big post spawning brutes? 2 hours: 25 bluegills(most 4 inches), 4 green sunfish, and 3 carps. Enjoy the pictures!
