Went back to Bayou Louie this morning. Tried a shallow area near deep water, nothing. Checked out a shallow cove, nothing. Couple guys spider rigging deeper water, one came close, said he caught a few. Water in the cove was 72 degrees. Wind blowing from deep water towards shallow. The further I went, the warmer the water got. Warm enough to have an 8 to 10 foot alligator cruising about. Caught a couple fish, and tried the side with the steeper drop off. Started catching more fish. Water temperature was 79 to eighty degrees! Even in 10 feet of water. My guess is that the wind blew the warmer surface water into the cove. I was having battery problems so I had to get upwind and drift down using trolling motor to adjust how close to the bank. Most fish were outside the treeline in 4 to 7 feet of water. This was not at all what I expected. Ended up with 15. Threw back 8 or so small ones and broke off the biggest trying to swing it. Fun day! Hope I can get the battery problem sorted out.
