2 TARP SIZED Crappie & a limit

Biofisher always brings out the best in our crappie fishing. Today is the final day that he can fish with me during this holiday week. He is going to be smoking turkeys and deer tenderloin this afternoon and into the night. One of them is for me. Woo hoo. We fished about 3 hours and had a limit plus one short. We also caught 3 bass. I kept two and we released a small spotted bass.

Today we had a rare double of 14.5” black crappie. Gary hooked the first one and as he was bringing it in and I was reaching for the net, I had one nail my monkey milk jig and after I netted his fish, he then returned the favor by netting my fish. Beautiful double slab crappie.

We had a limit in less than an hour and the fish really slowed down, so we hit a couple more spots and called it a day. Now Gary can get on the smoker. Grin. We didn’t take many pics. The fish that we caught were on the bottom in 25 feet of water.

Wind was calm and sunshine was bright, but we fished early. 1/16 and 3/32 oz jig heads and we both used Mo Glo lures by Bobby Garland. I almost forgot, Gary hooked a big Striper that he fought for about 10 minutes and the fish ran almost half of his spool of line out before it stopped running. Gary was doing a great job of fighting the fish and it finally straightened the hook out on the crappie jig. A fish that big is boss when you use 4 lb test line. Grin.
