• One of our better days

I called Les and asked if he wanted to go fishing. We met at the ramp and headed out. It was a beautiful morning

They said the wind was going to be out of the east but a bit breezy. It was out of the north and quite a bit breezy. We set up and made our first pass. We had some company in the area and noticed that our drift was taking us across the path of another boat. I dropped the trolling motor and moved out of the way. Nothing seemed to be working. We decide to change location.

As we were re-setting the rods, I changed out some of the colors. It wasn't long after that a rod goes off. First fish of the day, a keeper and the skunk was off the boat. I point the bow towards the shore hoping to get some relief from the wind. I make the turn and find some calmer water. we set back to enjoy a quiet morning.

One of Les's rods is acting strange. He brings it in to check it.

He had caught a fresh water mussel. It looked like it bit the hook. He's on the board.

The new spot seems to be doing better. The rods are bending but the fish are on the small side. But it is fun action. Then one of my rods takes a dive down into the lake. I grab the rod and pull up. The fish pulls back and makes a run for it, taking line and ( of course ) crossing some of the other lines. Les grabs the net and stands by. It takes two or three. tries to bring it to the boat. It's a striper ! and a keeper size one at that.

We clear the rods and reset. A rod goes off, then another, and yet one more. Three fish on. We have our work cut out for us but we bring all three on board. We hit onto a school of small stripers. Not big but a lot of fun. Les has a rod go off. He brings in a bass. ( that is a fish We don't catch often while fishing for crappies.). This corner of the lake is proving active. Our rods keep bending and dancing, one right after another. We found some active fish. Between the crappies and the stripers we boat well over 40 fish. We keep throwing them back but having a blast. We do get a few more deep bends on the rods because The live well is starting to get full.

We had at least 4 or 5 times when we had more than two fish on at a time. Always a fun drill.

The wind is picking up some more so we point the boat towards the ramp.

This is my share of the haul for today

Hoping to see everyone at the slabfest.

Until then, tight lines and full net

    Jim

Great sunrise pic, can't get over how often ya cross paths with them stripers....Ketchn most of our lakes average 10 ft. depth & when cutting corners to fast while long-line trolling you'll usually drag bottom & pick up these types of creatures, snails...ect...
