• Shots Were Fired

No no, not what that Pantastic dude did down the way earlier in the week, all firearms were left at home. The shots I am talking about were at docks, with a plastic bait and a nice piece of graphite. I had a free afternoon on Thursday, all work from home was done, so I hitched up the ride and hit the water. Starting with a floater, I scored a nice male Black Crappie on a shallow stick up, with water temps at 65, I think I knew what was going on, bow chicka wow wow!

Boys and girls up shallow, both Blacks and Whites.

Bait of choice was Mr. Garlands Baby Shad, and Slab Sauce was used. I really like the new packaging, dropper style tip is awesome, thanks Slab. Anyway, the dock shooting discovery was just a fluke, I saw some on this dock on the electronics as I was passing by, turned a gave the bait a quick pitch under the shade and Thump.. it was on.

Now my dock shooting rod was in the box, but I just used what was in my hand and it got the job done.

Found a few other docks with some fish that wanted to play, and a limit was soon had. Livewell and cleaning station highlight pictures.

I am not a big dock shooter, and do not think I have ever caught any the first week of April doing this, but I did enjoy the Thump. Social Distancing rules were followed at the ramp, I did not even come close to anyone, and these fish will become food for a family of four.

    Stay safe out there.

That was a great day for sure. So Were they on the bank or just off of it in structure or under dock? What lake? really nice size overall in that limit.

Fish were under the docks in the shade, lake in Upper E TN, and the stuff you see in behind the dock is just floated up debris from the high flood waters we had earlier in the year.

That is ice, I like to cool my fillets as quick as possible, so after cleaning and washing each individual piece I chill them in the refrigerator in ice water. Firms them up quick.
