• Lake Talquin Weekend

    Me and my lady drove 8 hours to some warmer temps over the weekend. After last year’s February trip to Talquin, we were looking forward to getting back down for some big crappie. This time the numbers weren’t there but the quality certainly was! We had 4 2lb fish in two days of fishing. All the fish we found were suspended 15-20’ over 25-30’ of water. I kept seeing large schools of bait with fish around in the river channel. Mostly stacked around the bottom. I wanted to think they were crappie, but I don’t think they were. Here are a few pics of some of the nicer ones.
    Water temp -62-64 degrees, VERY windy!
    Long lined 1/16 jigs with monkey milk BG and minnows. Some rods had 1/16 split shot for depth
