• They were bitin' good tonight!

Finally, a welcome change to our weather here in CT. Instead of hot, extremely humid weather, with severe thunderstorm warnings, tornado watches and warnings, torrential downpours, etc., I awoke to temps in the low 60's with very pleasant humidity and the weather got better as the day went along. Had enough energy left at the end of the work day to load up and see if the fish would cooperate after all the rain we've had the last couple of days. I launched about 5:15 and pulled out at 7:45, with lots of fish landed and all released for others to try their luck with on another day. Surface water temp was 76 and wind was calm. Had a lot of cloud cover so the lighting was rather subdued to start with but was nearly clear when I pulled off. Water was murkier than expected so I tied on the road runner, the slabalicious and a Bobby Garland baby shad swim'r in live minnow color; this is a new one for me. I figured I'd have lots of vibration in the water to try to offset the murkiness. First 2 fish were crappie, on the roadrunner, about 12" and about 10", maybe 5 minutes in to the trip and just a couple of minutes apart:

These would be the only fish for the night from the RR. Had a couple of tails nipped off it but wouldn't land another fish with it.
Next one was a bluegill on the Swim'r, followed by another nice crappie, again on the Swim'r.

Had a bit of a dry spell so I stopped my trolling to work some drop off's and weed lines; nadda, not even a little nibble so back to trolling it was. Everything came on the troll tonight. I finished out the night with the road runner (I kept hoping it would come through but......) the slabilicious and the gray stinger. Around 7pm they really began to light it up; I could hardly keep the paddle tail slabilicious in the water; that and the gray stinger were hooking them left and right:

In between there were quite a few bluegill, they all came on the gray stinger. Total for the trip was about 20 crappie and probably a dozen 'gills. A very enjoyable couple of hours on a late summer evening.
