Well with this beautiful weather this weekend what'd ya expect? Lol.
Me and my best buddy, fishing partner and new member Steven(SM812512) got out both mornings this weekend. And did well enough today, not as awesome yesterday.
Yesterday we visited a private commercial farm he works for. This lake is prolly about 300 yards or so from the edge of the field where we park. Then you gotta drag the kayaks on the edge of a corn field and a thick woods. But we've pulled very few crappie out but what's there are giants. As are the brim, being that this lake sees very little pressure.
But we launch with our minners and jigs anyhow. We didn't see a single crappie and I think total he took home 10 or so decent brim. With the 3 I had on the stringer included in that total. Both fished minners and jigs. And tried all depths to try to find the crappie but just couldn't get it done.
He was fun on UL gear. Love these slabalicious jigs!
Today we hit our regular crappie hole. Same old song and dance, load truck, bait shop for minners, launch around 0700.
As usual it doesn't take long. He struck first today. We both run jigs and minners. I couldnt figure out a definitive color pattern and not sure if he did or not. But this lake can be fickle. Clear water but they dont always a natural color. Some days loud colors some days dark.
But we fished till noon or so and each just about limited out before we decided lunch sounded good. I'd say the majority was caught on minners from 6 to 10+ feet or so. I took home 15, and I believe he took home 20. No slabs per-say but decent eaters. Was a pretty good weekend if ya ask me.
Slabalicious baby!
