Fishing was great in yesterday morning on the Big G. I started fishing at 0630 and had a limit by 1030 and was even culling some smaller fish. All the fish I took home were 10.5 -16" (good solid fish). Unfortunately, I believe we lost a large portion of the spawn in this last round of rain and cold weather. The majority of the fish I caught were females. No bloody tails on any of them and the eggs had started to turn a pale yellow whitish color with not much blood in them. I was fishing up in a creek arm where these fish normally stage to spawn. I fished between two points that came out into the creek, and caught the majority of my fish there.
Color of the day was a pink head with a jelly blue/chartreuse tail hot grub. I was trolling a 1/32 with a 1/24 on the bottom hook. Other colors that did good were Orange head with black and chartreuse hot grub and chartreuse/pink or orange head on a black and blue. All three colored heads seemed to do well but that pink out performed them all. I was trolling at 1.1 mph in 6-8.5 FOW. Anywhere where the grass stopped at 5' was good. The top 5 FOW had no grass and those fish would come up out of the grass to grab it!
