• Oxbow Crappie

Due to the recent rain, I decided to leave my home lake of Ross Barnett and try a Mississippi oxbow lake known as Eagle Lake. I had recieved some great information from a friend about a few locations that had produced a lot of good fish over the last couple of days. This information turned out to be right on the money and lead us to a very successful day (thanks friend!). This was my first trip to Eagle Lake and could not wait to try the crappie. Today we single poled piers with BnM Sam Heaton Super Senitive rods and Bobby Garland slab slayers and baby shad jigs. My brother and I got to work shortly after daylight. We tried the honey holes that were given to us by my friend and picked up some fish. There was one certain spot that they really liked. It was a spot that might be as big as a coffee table. We sat on that spot till 3 pm and ended up catching 65 crappie, 2 bull bream, and 1 bass. Not to mention the 60-70 white bass and yellow striped bass we caught. It was a fun filled day and my freezer is now full!

Actually filled the live well with solid fish... Got to love those oxbow crappie. I think I am ruined... All fish were caught on single pole using bobby garland baby shad and slab slayers...
