• Good couple of days

As I posted last week, I had Camryn out Saturday morning. We did our best to find some fish in the river and hide from the wind, and we did well on both counts. 48* on the truck display had Cam fussing. I'm trying to get her exposed to something different each time we get out, and this trip was dipping lessons. We also did a bit of jig and cork up in the pockets that we came upon, and while we got a few like that it wasn't anything to compare with the dipping. Cam dropped a jig on a 1/32 head and a liberal dosing with the bosses Slab Sauce through a hole as big as a coffee cup and before it dropped very far she was asking "Pawpaw, I got one, I think, but what do I do now? This fish hit the scale at a pound and a half, and she couldn't get her nose through the hole. I told her that she had to come and to lean on her, and she did. A few moments later she had her there and I was scrambling for the net. Wonderful fish for her. Moved around a lot and covered more ground than I had planned on. It didn't seem like very long and I started feeling hungry and I wondered why? Looked at the clock and it was after one. After a cool start, 48*, and a stop by Dunkin along the way, we had been out long enough that breakfast was gone. 10 fish in the box and the small one right at 3/4 lb. I was happy to make the call telling a friend that had asked for fish that I had some for them. Down side to that was that they never showed and I had fishin the live well when I headed out this morning. They need not ask again. Those fish were released this morning and while sluggish, they moved off just fine. Love my live well.

Unable to sleep I was rolling around just after one and got out to play with the computer for a while and hopefully get tired. Again. Finally fell back out and woke up at 0430, up for the day. Already connected and coffee made and waiting for me to push the ON button, I started moving and taking meds and so on. A little after 6 I headed for a sammich at Mac and Dons and the ramp. A friend told me yesterday that the river flow was all but gone and that meant that a spot I had a real good time with should be on like Donkey Kong. Rods retied yesterday, boat wiped down and vacuumed out, you might say I was a little excited anticipating what might go on. No traffic at the ramp and 41* on the truck display, I was off. I dipped around old favorites to almost no avail. The past hurricane has completely changed the area with lots more wood and snags than it ever had in the past. But I thought that it might be a plus and hit it with everything I could think of. Two things I don't usually do is tie off and run a slip bobber. I did both this past weekend with good success, proving that one needs to go outside his comfort zone sometimes to get things done. The little " Wing It" float with a 1/32 jig worked and cast beyond my expectations. This particular spot is not hidden along the river and the wind became an issue, I owed the wife better than fishing all weekend, and there was a bumper crop of the stinking jet ski's so I figured I better go. I stopped counting at 30 Jet Ski's and they were still coming. Yesterday Cam and I had north of forty fish go through the boat and 10 that made the cut, on the trailer at 1330. Today I had over 25 through the boat, including a 1.5lb whisker trout on a 2lb rig, and 5 or 6 would have cleared a pound easy and one pushed a pound and a half. On the trailer at 1030 and all released for another day, I headed home feeling accomplished and relaxed. Missed my girl this morning. Loaded up without incident and headed home through the maze of jet ski trailers that were everywhere in the parking lot. Must have been some kind of club event is all I could come up with. Have to work this coming Saturday and lots of things to catch up on at the house so this may have to last a while.Hope that you all had a good weekend too, and til next visit......Skeet.

PS Hey Shu, The jigs worked great today. This one in the last pic said they were yummy. The Slab Sauce had a definite improvement to my catch today. Thanks Guys.
