The three of us decided that today would be a perfect day for a quiet, relaxing fishing trip. I picked Jeff up at 6 am and then Steve and his boat at 6:30 and headed down I-69 for Coldwater. We launched about an hour later and headed to the spot where we caught some crappie two weeks ago. We tried both shiners under bobbers and cast/ retrieve jigs and plastic but caught just one small crappie that we threw back.
Our second spot we anchored up and fished bobbers for a bit then Steve made a decision fitting the guide of the year and we started long line trolling. We were using 1/16 oz jigs, Steve tipped with a shiner and me and Jeff with Charlie Brewer Sliders in natural colors. Grey/ glitter, brown/ glitter and green ghost. They would not touch bright colors.
On most passes we would pick up a couple fish and had some passes where we would put 4-6 in the box. We caught mostly crappie but also got some real nice perch and a few bluegill and sunfish. Most of the crappie were in the 10" range with Steve taking big fish honors with a 13 1/4" slab. Full disclosure; it's the only one that was measured so we had to give him honors by default. Jeff did such a good job with the net that he earned the title Designated Internet Net King.
We didn't count how many we kept but I figure we cleaned about 6 gills, 10 perch and 40-50 crappie. Steve has some pictures that he will add later.

Polish Teacher for a day...... that's funnee
It's, true never caught a crappie in my life till about a year ago......y'all are good teachers, that's what I love about this forum......sharing knowledge, there isn't anyone I've fished with as a result of this forum that I haven't learned something from.....
It was a great day and contrary to popular belief, Jeff (vbottom) does talk and is a lot of fun to fish with! Jerry (Spartannation) is always fun to have on the boat!
That all being said, I do have some pictures. The one with "Secret Lake" is kinda not funnee since the location has been given....but take it in the context it was meant.....to not give out our secret spot
After Jerry and Jeff filled up what they wanted, there was plenty left
Which is a lot, so I'm gonna ask my 92 year old dad and my sons families to come over for a fish fry
Thanks Jerry and Jeff I had a great time, lotsa laughs, and a great day on the water!
One more thing.......
I can not express enough how much I love pulling the drain plug on my Alumacraft and not one drop of h2o drops out!!!!!!!
