We had the luxury of entertaining our grandson this weekend at the camper! So we planned a big pancake breakfast for this morning so that he would have the strength to fight those big slabs.
We got to Sportsman's about 9:30am and launched. Finally got everybody settled and we took off around 10am.
We had a little bit of a run to make and the main lake was just about like glass.
We get to our destination and start putting rods out, and 5 minutes into our first lap, and "bam" right side #1 gets loaded up!
Riley gets busy with assistance from littlemama or Granny Jo Jo. And one his aunt's jumps in with an assist running the net!
Riley finally gets it reeled in and it's a nice black crappie!! His first cranking slab!!
The dust settles and the rod gets put back and what do ya know, and "bam" another loaded up rod!
And then "bam" left side #4 gets all bent out of shape with another nice slab! The younger aunt takes advantage of the situation and delivers the goods without a net!!
All said and done, Riley had a big time in his hour or so cranking trip. We ended up keeping 4 nice crappie. Yes, it's a family addiction! Littlemama and the girls have really enjoyed the cranking this summer.
So, we took a little boat ride and headed back to clean fish. And yes, my daughters know how to clean fish as Mrs Anna is assisting me today! They will be the total package, from shooting ducks to catching slabs, when they leave the nest.
I believe I have another fishin' partner in training! It was a good day tater!!
