• Tried wateree for the first time ever.

Tried wateree for the first time and really cant wait to fish it again. We didnt nail them but brought home enough for dinner this week. Largest crappie was over 12" so. Small was 9". Sinkerman, will let you know when i am going back. Fished from 9am to 3pm, probably caught 10-15 catfish, but were small.

Nice, fished wateree all the time when I was stationed at shaw afb. Started long lining every year starting on 1 Jan and always filled freezer by mid March. Launched at Air Force park on wateree and fished the coves from there to the damn. Black and chartreuse was always good color in the morning. Jan and feb watch for sea gulls diving then troll where their diving with crappie jigs and have a blast catching striper on crappie gear.

Thank you or the tips, I really need to find more brush pile and cover. I probably caught those crappies near one of those islands towards the dam in the coves you mentioned. I just arrived at Shaw AFB in July. I will be trying out those color jigs this winter.

Any hot spots you can recommend? We've never been but we are big crappie fisherman from NY. I moved to rock hill last year and my dad is down visiting, would love to not get skunked! Thanks for any tips

Private messaged you my number if you want some info on fishing the area. Haven't been there since 2003 I believe, but I imagine it's about the same.

was at lake wylie at the beginning of the month, there were alot of crappie caughts on that nightstalk st the beinning of the month. We launched from the park at the southern end of the lake and fished towards to nuclear power plant. There humps under the power lines that cross the lake and fished under the bridge nesr the blockade for the power plant
