• New Lake Record Crappie in Oklahoma - by Troy Jens

Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma, 10/23/2010 - Todd Huckabee, of Crowder, Okla. caught and registered a new Lake Eufaula record crappie Friday. The 2.8 -pound crappie was landed while guiding his clients on the south end of the lake.
The new record crappie was caught on a ¼ ounce Chartreuse Green/Florescent Orange Lindy Jig with a Game-Day Dancin’ Crappie Tube used for the jig body. Huckabee was fishing rip-rap break lines where the rock met the muddy bottom in 10 feet of water.

“The bigger crappie hang out right in the transition where the rocks come to an end under the water, where they wait to ambush bait,” Huckabee said.
Huckabee and his clients caught numerous crappie in the 1-pound class before the record fish took the Lindy Jig. Todd said the group lost two other fish in that same size class during a 45 minute feeding spree.
Huckabee, a noted Lake Eufaula guide and national pro crappie angler, owns and operates the Blue Heron tackle and grill in Crowder. For information, email Huckabee at [email protected] or call (405) 520-8980.
