I fished Bradford on Redstone Arsenal today, the wind started out brutal and just kept getting worse all day. I’d planned to spider rig but the wind was about 10MPH at daylight from the north with stronger gust. I ended up single pole jigging laydowns, isolated brush and lily pad edges. I kept half a limit for the freezer, returning my remaining Crappie the rest of the day. I caught scattered fish and fought the wind all day never finding any concentrations of Crappie, but continually catching fish. Looks like the typical post spawn scattering and recovery.
I decided after lunch to search for some gills, finally located a bunch in prespawn mode and kept a limit. Best bait for the Crappie was a 1/16oz Bobby Garland in Pink and Pearl. Gills came from a 1/32oz spinner with a white, 1 inch twister tail. The was clear with visibility of about two feet and 61 degrees.
