Awarded TripAdvisor’s 2015 Certificate of Excellence

Fish Creek, Wisconsin - Peninsula Players Theatre, America’s Oldest Professional Resident Summer Theater, is celebrating its 80thseason along Door County’s scenic shores. Since 1935 the professional troupe has been entertaining and uplifting theatergoers with its variety of comedies, dramas and musicals.

TripAdvisor has recognized Peninsula Players Theatre as being a symbol of excellence in hospitality by awarding it with the 2015 Certificate of Excellence Award. This award can only be earned through consistently great reviews of a business published on the world’s largest travel site.

“This prestigious award of excellence from TripAdvisor for Peninsula Players Theatre is very encouraging and energizing,” said Brian Kelsey, Managing Director. “Our staff is very focused on ensuring the best customer service experience possible for our guests. Several key staff members are Certified Tourism Ambassador’s who thoroughly enjoy making a patron’s visit to the Players and to Door County a pleasurable and memorable experience.”

As expressed on the formal notice of excellence it reads, “For five years, TripAdvisor has shared this award on behalf of travelers across the globe. Today, whether you’re a first-time recipient or a five-time winner, we hope you’re proud to see Peninsula Players Theatre recognized by customers as one of the very best in the business.”

Generations of theatergoers have discovered Wisconsin’s theatrical treasure nestled along Door County’s scenic shoreline. Mother Nature is the Players lobby and patrons dress according to the weather. The theater is designed to be an open-air pavilion with a roof overhead so the performances may go on rain or shine. In inclement weather the sides of the pavilion can be lowered to create an enclosed space.

“Patrons are welcome to explore the lush grounds and enjoy a pre-show beverage from the Luna Bar while relaxing under the canopy of a cedar forest,” Kelsey said. “Many patrons plan ahead to arrive early and enjoy the view of the setting sun over the waters of Green Bay before settling into the Players award-winning all-weather pavilion.”

Peninsula Players 80th season continues with Ken Ludwig’s hysterically funny, door-slamming comedy “Lend Me a Tenor” on stage through August 16. Opening August 19 and performing through September 6 is John Patrick Shanely’s latest Broadway hit,“Outside Mullingar.” This sweet and prickly Irish love story makes its Wisconsin premičre is by the creator of “Doubt” and “Moonstruck.” Closing the season is the frolicking, habit-forming musical comedy “Nunsense,” with book, music and lyrics by Dan Goggin performing Sept. 9 through Oct. 18.
Peninsula Players has been entertaining audiences since 1935 when the theater opened behind the Bonnie Brook Motel in Fish Creek on July 25 with Noel Coward’s “Hay Fever.” The company was founded by a brother and sister team, Caroline and Richard Fisher, who dreamed of an artistic utopia in the north woods where actors, designers and technicians could focus on their craft while being surrounded by nature in a contemplative setting. Peninsula Players moved to the theater’s present location along the shore of Green Bay in 1937.

Individual tickets range from $36 to $45, with discounts for groups of 15 or more. There are no performances on Mondays. In the summer the Peninsula Players performs in Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 7:30 p.m. and in the fall Tuesdays through Sunday at 7 p.m., except for Sunday, August 16, Sept. 6, 20, 27 and Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. For more information or to reserve tickets phone the Peninsula Players’ box office at 920-868-3287 or visit the website at www.peninsulaplayers.com.

I'm from Wisconsin and have been to Door County numerous times. It has a lot to offer and is truly a great place. If the winters were mild it would be standing room only.
