Temps are going down fast! We launched yesterday around 8:30 am with the air temp just above freezing. Water is still in the mid to upper 40's, so I knew this was going to be a challenge. Scouted several areas for signs of fish on the sonar and found some, here & there.

First half of the morning however was not very productive. Around 10 am things started happening. We caught probably around 30 - 40 crappie & yellow perch. Both species today were extremely shallow, which was unexpected. Fishing through dense remaining weeds was difficult, but once we knew the fish were there, we kept at it:

The crappie were not as large as I had hoped, but the perch were very decent. We pulled off around 2 pm. Most productive today was slow rolling 1/16 oz. jigs dressed with straight tailed plastics in pink/chartreuse combos. Tried my Roadrunners several times with no takes and the weeds kept fouling them, so I resorted to the straight tails instead.

Beautiful late fall day. Snow was predicted last night though, but we only got a dusting. Hopefully the weather will moderate over the next few days to give us a last shot at open water.
