RiverSlabber: "Glad to hear you are doing okay. Definitely sending a prayer up for ya.
I lost my grandmother to a stroke a few years ago, she knew something was wrong immediately and called 911 herself and was in a hospital within 20 minutes but unfortunately it didn't work out. It's definitely important to know the signs if you want any chance of being a survivor."
Shipahoy 41: Your testimony might help save someone's life today who reads your post. You can't play around with strokes. Know the signs, immediately take two aspirins and get to the emergency room.
All of us have to recognize signs of a stroke. Google F.A.S.T. warning signs of a stroke (see below). Learn them! You only have two hours from the onset of a stroke before clot busting medication is ineffective. Knowing the warning signs might save your life or help prevent permanent brain damage and paralysis.
I had a stroke. Brain MRI confirmed three clots. Fortunately i recognized signs of a stroke and immediately took two aspirins and the wife immediately took me to the hospital.
I spent an entire day in the emergency room, an entire day in neurological intensive care and two additional days in a hospital room on the stroke ward. I am home now able to take small steps with the help of a cane. Physical therapy will prayerfully help some. I can move my arms and legs but the left side is noticably weaker than the right side. I tire easily so keep the prayers going. Thanks to all of you for the prayers and well wishes.
Thank you for helping me warn others. I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother. Find comfort in the bible and in the words of Jesus. Bible = Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth

F.A.S.T. - from http://strokeassociation.org :
Face Drooping – Does one side of the face droop or is it numb? Ask the person to smile. Is the person's smile uneven?
Arm Weakness – Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
Speech Difficulty – Is speech slurred? Is the person unable to speak or hard to understand? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence, like "The sky is blue." Is the sentence repeated correctly?
Time to call 9-1-1 – If someone shows any of these symptoms, even if the symptoms go away, call 9-1-1 and get the person to the hospital immediately. Check the time so you'll know when the first symptoms appeared. |
