    Default Orange fleshed channel cat

Has anybody seen this before? The picture doesn't do it justice but this fillet was as orange as a trout that had been feeding on shrimp. Almost as orange as a king salmon. When I took it out of the net and bled it I noticed it was different with had a golden hue to it. I've never seen anything like it.

Most of them here have yellow behind the head and going back to the dorsal. Some have a slightly yellowish tint to the meat. This one was all orange. Maybe it really liked crawdads. One of those mysteries that make fishing so fun.

we see that here sometimes , channel cat have on and off flavors , the commercial folks actually use taste testing folks to decide when it is best to harvest them , a good buddy used to raise them in the land of catfish farming , never gave it much attention myself , but have seen quite a few that were pretty deep orange before ...
